Gustaf Munch-Petersen: Nineteen Poems

The snow lies

firm and white –

The sea glows

summer-blue –

Flaming sun

and ice-clear air

burns in tired eyes –

Seabirds breed,

hoarse starlings cry –

The night comes

black and deep –

Boats follow

teeming herring –

Over the land in the west

a star flickers green –
