Gustaf Munch-Petersen: The Lowest Country
so quiet
so quiet –
don’t speak –!
very very carefully
I must tread,
if I am to find anything –,
and alone I must go,
if I am to find anything –
yet I have found nothing –
I have neither
found my house
or my beloved
or my fields –
they must be
a place, I have not yet been to –
I have already been walking for a long time –
perhaps I have a long way yet
to walk – |
and all alone must I go
and so terribly careful
must I go,
if I am to find anything –
but I have to
find a place to be –
I’ve got to have a home somewhere –
I know,
that I have my house
and my fields somewhere –
my beloved can’t wait forever –
I have already been walking for a long time –
don’t speak to me –
if I have too long to walk yet,
it may become too late –
quiet – quiet –!
I must
find my home –
