Edith Södergran: The Rose Altar
First I will climb Chimborazo
in my own country
and stand there breathless
with the wreath of victory.
Later I will climb the mountain of fame
which the golden fields of the world smile at,
and stand there blessed
in rosy visions.
In the end I’ll climb the mountain of power,
the not yet climbed,
wherefrom the mildest stars smile
and bless everything.
